Product Information
Introducing the new-style GU Key Wind gearboxes, a versatile solution available in a wide range of operations and one of the largest selections of backsets on the market. Choose from backsets of 35mm, 45mm, 55mm, and 65mm to suit your needs.
These new-style GU locks can be easily identified by the distinct shape at the top of the gearbox. Unlike the old-style locks, which feature a removed top corner, the new versions are designed with a vertical groove that aids in the proper alignment of bolts for handles. Please note that the two types of gearboxes are not interchangeable; a new-style gearbox will not fit an old-style multipoint lock.
GU multipoint lock gearboxes come equipped with both a latch and a deadbolt, measuring 191mm in height (excluding fixing lugs) and the backset plus 16mm in width. The latch stands at 32mm high, while the deadbolt measures 35mm high, with a distance of 54mm from the bottom of the latch to the top of the deadbolt.
Installation is straightforward, as GU gearboxes are secured to their faceplates with three screws. The distance from the top screw to the middle screw is 108mm, and from the middle screw to the bottom screw is 92mm.
When measuring your backset, always allow an additional 2mm if the faceplate is still attached to the gearbox. If needed, a spindle sleeve can be used to accommodate an 8mm spindle (Product Code: SPINSLEEVE10).
We also offer a comprehensive range of associated products for GU Key Wind gearboxes, including multipoint door locks, keeps, spindles, handles, and various accessories.
To Lock the Door
- Upon closing the door, the latch will automatically engage.
- Turn the key to throw and engage or "wind" out the locking points.
To Unlock the Door
- Turn the key to unlock the door by "unwinding" the locking points.
- A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.
