The Fastlocking Europa Plus gearboxes offer a revolutionary locking mechanism that simplifies security. By simply lifting the handle, users can engage the locking points without needing to turn the key, a feature not found in the older GU locks. Notably, these gearboxes have a distinct design, with the top groove being a separate, elongated hole.

Available exclusively in a 35mm backset, the Fastlocking Europa Plus GU gearboxes are designed for modern security needs.

Differentiating New and Old Style GU Locks

Identifying new-style GU locks is straightforward: the top of the gearbox features a vertical groove, unlike the old-style locks which have a corner removed. This design change is crucial, as the two types of gearboxes are incompatible; a new-style gearbox cannot be fitted onto an old-style multipoint lock.

Specifications of GU Multipoint Lock Gearboxes

GU multipoint lock gearboxes are equipped with both a latch and a deadbolt. Their dimensions are as follows:

• Height: 191mm (excluding fixing lugs)
• Width: Backset + 16mm
• Latch Height: 32mm
• Deadbolt Height: 35mm
• Distance from the bottom of the latch to the top of the deadbolt: 54mm

The gearboxes are secured to their faceplates with three screws, with the following measurements:

• Distance from the top screw to the middle screw: 108mm
• Distance from the middle screw to the bottom screw: 92mm

When measuring your backset, always allow an additional 2mm if the faceplate is still attached to the gearbox.

Operation Instructions

To Lock the Door:

1. Close the door to automatically engage the latch.
2. Lift the handle to engage the additional locking points.
3. Throw the deadbolt and secure the system by turning the key (note: on some brands, lifting the handle will throw the deadbolt).

To Unlock the Door:

1. Unlock the system by turning the key.
2. Push the handle down to disengage the locking points.
3. A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.
