Multipoint Gearbox - Lift Lever or Split Spindle

These gearboxes are specifically designed for Saracen-stamped multipoint door locks. They come in two backset options: 35mm and 45mm.

Saracen multipoint door lock gearboxes are easily recognizable due to their unique square design, which lacks corner cut-outs. The overall dimensions of the gearbox are 221mm in length and the width is calculated as the backset plus 18mm.

Key features of the Saracen multipoint door lock gearboxes include:

• A 24mm high latch, distinguished by two screws.
• A 30mm high deadbolt.
• A spacing of 61mm between the latch and deadbolt.

These gearboxes are secured to the faceplate with four screws, which is somewhat atypical for multipoint door locks. The measurements between the screw holes are as follows:

• First to second screw hole: 37mm
• Second to third screw hole: 85mm
• Third to fourth screw hole: 43mm

When measuring the backset, remember to account for an additional 2-3mm for the faceplate. Therefore, a gearbox with a 35mm backset will measure approximately 32mm when not attached to the strip.

Operation

• Locking the Door:

  1. Close the door to automatically engage the latch.
  2. Lift the handle to activate the additional locking points.
  3. Throw the deadbolt and secure the system by turning the key (note: on some brands, lifting the handle will automatically throw the deadbolt).

• Unlocking the Door:

  1. Turn the key to unlock the system.
  2. Push the handle down to disengage the locking points.
  3. A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.

Latch Reversal Instructions

To reverse the latch:

1. Unscrew the screws in the latch to remove it.
2. Reverse the latch and reinsert it, then replace the screws.

Nightlatch Split Spindle Reversal Instructions

To reverse the nightlatch split spindle:

1. Remove the latch to access a small screw.
2. Use a small bladed screwdriver to turn the screw 180 degrees.
3. Return the latch to its correct position.
