Product Overview: GU Europa Plus Multipoint Door Lock

The GU Europa Plus multipoint door lock is designed for enhanced security and ease of use, featuring a robust configuration of 4 rollers, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch. This innovative locking system is part of the GU "SECURY" range, specifically the fast-locking versions known as "Europa Plus."

Key Features:

  • Fast Locking Mechanism: The Europa Plus lock allows for quick deadlocking of all locking points without the need to turn the key, streamlining the locking process.
  • Unique Operation: To engage the lock, simply lift the handle upwards. This action simultaneously locks all points, ensuring maximum security. Unlocking is just as straightforward—turn the key, push down the handle, and retract the latch.
  • Identification: GU locks are easily identifiable by the logo stamped on the faceplate. Be aware that older doors may feature the original style locks, which differ from the current models.
  • Compatibility: The Europa Plus locks are exclusively available with a 35mm backset and do not include the older style configurations. It's important to note that the new style gearboxes are incompatible with old style locks.

Technical Specifications:

  • Gearbox Dimensions: The GU multipoint lock gearboxes measure 191mm high (excluding fixing lugs) and are 16mm wide plus the backset.
  • Latch and Deadbolt Sizes: The latch is 32mm high, while the deadbolt measures 35mm high, with a distance of 54mm from the bottom of the latch to the top of the deadbolt.
  • Screw Fixing: Gearboxes are secured to their faceplates with three screws, with specific measurements for screw placement to ensure proper installation.

Additional Locking Features:

GU refers to their additional locking deadbolts as "MR," which provide enhanced protection against sawing or forced entry. The chamfered design of the deadbolts aids in pulling the door closer to the frame, enhancing compression and security.

Roller Functionality:

Rollers play a crucial role in compressing the door against the frame, preventing dust and water ingress. While they do not significantly enhance security, they help maintain the door's structural integrity and can be adjusted by +/- 1mm for optimal weather sealing.

Operation Instructions:

  • To Lock the Door:
    • Lift the handle upwards to engage and lock the locking points. No key is needed.
  • To Unlock the Door:
    • Turn the key to unlock the system.
    • Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points.
    • Turn the key to retract the latch.

Measuring Guidelines:

Backset Measurement: To measure the backset, take a ruler and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This distance is crucial for ensuring proper alignment with the strike plate.

Centres PZ Measurement: To measure the PZ (distance from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle), use a tape measure. Place one end at the center of the keyhole and extend it to the center of the handle. This measurement is essential for compatibility with your door hardware.

Faceplate Measurement: To measure the faceplate, remove the existing lock and measure the width and height of the faceplate. Ensure to note any specific cutouts or shapes that may affect the installation of the new lock.

Operation Selection: The operation of the lock can vary based on the specific model. Ensure to select the appropriate operation type from the drop-down menu based on your door's requirements and the locking mechanism you prefer.
