Product Overview: KFV Lever Multipoint Door Lock

The KFV Lever multipoint door lock is designed for enhanced security and durability, featuring 4 rollers, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch. This lock is ideal for homeowners seeking reliable protection for their doors.

Identification Tips

  • Early Models: Yellow passivated faceplate and dark grey gearboxes.
  • New Models: Shiny silver faceplates and light grey gearboxes.

Matching measurements with our outline drawings is the most effective way to confirm your lock type.

Modular Design and Installation

KFV locks have evolved, with many older models now discontinued. The new modular design allows for easier replacements without needing to change routing positions. When replacing old locks, adjustments may be necessary for keeps or hook boxes, especially if there’s limited clearance.

Specifications

  • Gearbox Type: Single spindle with 92mm centres.
  • Overall Height: 210mm
  • Bolt Throws: 21mm
  • Latch to Deadbolt Distance: 56mm
  • Spindle to Case Top Distance: 85mm

New KFV gearboxes are secured to the faceplate with screws, while older models used 1/8" rivets, which can aid in identification.

Lock Variants

KFV locks are available in lift lever or key wind variants. Note that these two types are not interchangeable.

Measuring Backset

When measuring the backset, remember to account for a 2-3mm allowance for the faceplate. For instance, a 35mm backset gearbox will measure 32mm when detached from the strip.

Deadbolt Features

KFV deadbolts are characterized by a chamfered center, which aids in connecting to the keep. The distinctive shape, with raised parts at the top and bottom, assists in lock identification.

Roller Functionality

Rollers serve to compress the door against the frame, minimizing dust and water ingress. While they do not significantly enhance security, they help prevent door warping by providing support along the full height of the door, contingent on proper engagement with their keeps. Rollers are typically adjustable by 1mm for optimal weather sealing.

Operating Instructions

To Lock the Door:

  1. Lift the handle upwards to engage the locking points.
  2. Secure the locking points and main deadbolt (if applicable) by turning the key.

To Unlock the Door:

  1. Turn the key to unlock the system.
  2. Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.

This comprehensive guide ensures you understand the features and operation of the KFV Lever multipoint door lock, providing peace of mind and security for your home.

Measuring Guidelines

Backset Measurement: To measure the backset, take a ruler and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. Ensure to account for a 2-3mm allowance for the faceplate.

Centres Measurement: For measuring the centres (PZ), measure the distance from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle hole. This is crucial for ensuring proper alignment and functionality.

Faceplate Measurement: To measure the faceplate, remove the lock from the door and measure the width and height of the faceplate. This will help in selecting the correct faceplate from the drop-down options.

Operation: The operation of the lock can vary based on the model. Ensure to check the specifications for the correct operation type, whether it’s lift lever or key wind, to ensure compatibility with your door setup.
