Product Overview: ERA Deadbolt Multipoint Door Lock
The ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock is engineered for security and reliability, featuring a robust design with 2 hooks, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch. This lock is a popular choice in the UK, known for its versatility and effectiveness in safeguarding homes.
Identifying Your ERA Lock
Recognizing an ERA multipoint door lock can be straightforward, but be cautious of rebranded versions. ERA manufactures locks for various door and window companies, which may display different branding on the faceplates, including Surelock, Saracen, and others.
Mechanism and Gearbox Details
Most ERA multipoint locks utilize a split spindle mechanism, simplifying replacements by focusing on one locking function. Notably, the gearboxes are distinctive with a square design and no corner cutouts, measuring 221mm in length. They are available in backsets of 30mm, 35mm, or 45mm, and can accommodate various locking mechanisms, including standard euro cut outs and the British Standard Fortress invincible gearbox.
Interchangeability and Customization
With the exception of specific models like the British Standard Fortress lock, ERA gearboxes are interchangeable. If your client requires a different locking mechanism, such as a hook lock instead of a deadbolt, we can customize the lock to meet their needs.
Locking Mechanism and Operation
ERA multipoint locks feature two hook arrangements: a standard hook for tight spaces and a larger security steel hook for enhanced protection. Both hooks operate bi-directionally, providing superior security.
Deadbolt Functionality
The deadbolt, referred to as a linear bolt by ERA, has an 18mm throw and is designed to pull the door tightly against the frame. These locks are commonly installed on timber and composite doors.
Locking and Unlocking Process
To secure the door:
- Lift the handle to engage the locking points.
- Turn the key to lock the points and the main deadbolt.
To unlock:
- Turn the key to unlock the system.
- Push the handle down to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.
Compliance and Testing
The ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 4 Corrosion Resistance standards, ensuring durability with 240 hours of resistance testing. It has also been endurance tested for 50,000 cycles and is designed to comply with PAS24:2012 requirements for enhanced security.

Measuring Guidelines
Backset Measurement:
To measure the backset, take a tape measure and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This measurement is crucial for ensuring a proper fit.
Centres PZ Measurement:
To measure the centres, measure the distance between the center of the keyhole and the center of the handle hole. This is typically 92mm for ERA locks.
Faceplate Measurement:
To measure the faceplate, remove the existing lock and measure the width and height of the faceplate. This will help you select the correct size from the drop-down options.
Operation:
The operation of the lock refers to how the locking mechanism is engaged and disengaged. Ensure to select the appropriate option based on your specific requirements.
