Product Overview: ERA Deadbolt Multipoint Door Lock

The ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock is engineered for enhanced security, featuring a robust design with 2 hooks, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch. This lock is a popular choice in the UK, known for its reliability and versatility.

Identifying Your ERA Lock

Recognizing an ERA multipoint door lock can be straightforward, but be cautious of rebranded versions. Many door and window companies utilize ERA locks, often stamping their faceplates with various brand logos, including Surelock, Saracen, and others.

Understanding the Mechanism

Most ERA multipoint locks incorporate a split spindle mechanism, simplifying replacements by focusing on one locking function. Note that this does not apply to SureFire locks or specific automatic locking models.

Distinctive Gearbox Features

ERA gearboxes are uniquely designed with a square shape and no corner cutouts. They measure 221mm in length, with a width determined by the backset plus 18mm. Available backsets include 30mm, 35mm, or 45mm, with all gearboxes sharing the same dimensions.

Interchangeability and Customization

With the exception of the British Standard Fortress lock and SureFire models, ERA gearboxes are interchangeable. If your client requires a different locking mechanism, such as a hook lock instead of a deadbolt, we can customize the lock to meet their needs.

Locking Arrangements and Security Features

ERA multipoint locks feature two hook locking arrangements:

  1. Standard Hook: Compact design, ideal for tight routing when replacing obsolete locks.
  2. Security Steel Hook: Larger hook case for enhanced security, may require door modifications for installation.

Both hooks are bi-directional, providing superior security with the top hook throwing upwards and the bottom hook downwards.

Deadbolt Specifications

ERA deadbolts, referred to as linear bolts, have an 18mm throw and are chamfered to secure the door against the frame. These locks are predominantly used in timber and composite doors.

Operation Instructions

To lock the door:

  1. Lift the handle upwards to engage the locking points.
  2. Turn the key to secure the locking points and main deadbolt.

To unlock the door:

  1. Turn the key to unlock the system.
  2. Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.

Compliance and Testing

The ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 4 Corrosion Resistance standards (240 hours) and has been endurance tested for 50,000 cycles. It is designed to comply with PAS24:2012 requirements for door sets, ensuring high security and durability.

Measuring Guidelines

Backset Measurement
To measure the backset, take a ruler and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This measurement is crucial for ensuring a proper fit.

Centres Measurement
To measure the centres (PZ), measure the distance from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle hole. This ensures that both components align correctly for optimal operation.

Faceplate Measurement
To measure the faceplate, measure the width and height of the existing faceplate on your door. This will help you select the correct size from the drop-down options.

Operation
The operation of the lock can vary based on the specific model. Ensure to select the appropriate operation type from the drop-down menu based on your requirements.
