Product Overview: Maco C-TS Multipoint Door Lock

The Maco C-TS multipoint door lock is designed for enhanced security and functionality, featuring two hooks and a lift lever operation. Introduced in 2012, the C-TS range has largely replaced the older G-TS series, offering a versatile solution with a split spindle that accommodates both lift lever and split spindle functions.

Identification and Features

To identify a C-TS lock, look for the Maco logo on the faceplate and examine the shape of the locking gearboxes once removed. Available in traditional 16mm and 20mm faceplates, some versions also feature a unique "Top Hat" faceplate, which combines a 16mm faceplate that fits into the euro groove with a 24mm top faceplate for a seamless finish.

Compatibility and Installation

While the C-TS locks supersede the G-TS range, they are not a direct replacement. Locking points differ, and adjustments may be necessary if the lock was tightly fitted. The keeps will also need to be repositioned to ensure proper functionality.

Design and Dimensions

The C-TS locks are characterized by their rounded shape, particularly noticeable in the main gearbox and hook boxes. Measuring 202mm high, they are among the smaller gearboxes available. The lock features a distinctive "soft" latch, which is split in half, although various latch variants exist.

Specifications:

  • Latch and deadbolt height: 30mm
  • Distance between latch and deadbolt: 55mm
  • Screw measurements:
    • Top screw to center: 102mm
    • Center screw to bottom screw: 110mm
  • Backset measurement: Allow 2-3mm for the faceplate (e.g., a 35mm backset gearbox measures 32mm when not fixed).

Security Features

The C-TS multipoint door locks offer two hook locking arrangements:

  1. Standard Uni-Directional Hook: Throws upwards, regardless of hook position.
  2. Hook and Anti-Lift Pin: Provides higher security with additional protection against forced entry, requiring special keeps due to the proximity of the pin and hook bolt.

Maco's rollers, known as i.S. cams, are made from hardened steel to resist attacks. These cams function similarly to rollers used for compression, pulling the door against the frame to prevent dust and water ingress while also helping to maintain the door's structural integrity.

Adjustability and Testing

Rollers are adjustable by 1mm to optimize weather sealing. The Maco C-TS locks have been endurance tested to withstand 100,000 cycles, ensuring reliability and durability for long-term use.

For any locks resembling the C-TS but with a missing top corner on the gearbox, it is likely an A-TS version, which features automatic locking. Replacement locks for Maco A-TS locks are also available.

Measuring Guidelines

To ensure accurate measurements for your Maco C-TS multipoint door lock, follow these guidelines:

Backset Measurement: To measure the backset, take a tape measure and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This measurement is crucial for ensuring the lock fits properly within the door frame.

Centres PZ Measurement: For the Centres PZ, measure the distance from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle hole. This is typically 45mm for the C-TS locks, but it's essential to confirm this to ensure compatibility with your door hardware.

Faceplate Measurement:To measure the faceplate, remove the existing lock and measure the width and height of the faceplate. This will help you select the correct faceplate option from the drop-down menu.

Operation: The operation of the lock refers to how the locking mechanism is engaged and disengaged. Ensure you select the appropriate option based on your door's requirements and the type of handle or lever you are using.

By following these measurement guidelines, you can ensure that your Maco C-TS multipoint door lock is installed correctly and functions optimally.
