Product Overview: Maco C-TS Multipoint Door Lock

The Maco C-TS multipoint door lock is designed for enhanced security and durability, featuring a robust configuration that includes:

  • 2 Rollers
  • 2 Hooks
  • 1 Deadbolt
  • 1 Latch
  • 2 Anti Lift Bolts

Transition from G-TS to C-TS

Introduced in 2012, the Maco Protect C-TS locks have largely replaced the older G-TS range, offering a split spindle function that allows for versatile installation as either a lift lever or split spindle. This makes it a single replacement option for the G-TS series, although it’s important to note that they are not a direct swap due to differences in locking point positions.

Identification and Variants

You can identify C-TS locks by the Maco logo on the faceplate and by examining the shape of the locking gearboxes once removed. They are available in traditional 16mm and 20mm faceplates, with some models featuring a unique "Top Hat" faceplate that combines a 16mm faceplate with a 24mm top faceplate for a seamless finish.

Design Features

The C-TS locks are characterized by their rounded shape, particularly noticeable in the main gearbox and hook boxes. Measuring 202mm high, they are among the smaller gearboxes available, and they include a distinctive "soft" latch that is split in half. Note that Maco offers various latch variants, so this feature alone may not definitively identify the lock.

Specifications

  • Latch and deadbolt height: 30mm
  • Distance between latch and deadbolt: 55mm
  • Screw measurements:
    • Top screw to center: 102mm
    • Center screw to bottom screw: 110mm

When measuring the backset, remember to account for an additional 2-3mm for the faceplate. For example, a 35mm backset gearbox will measure 32mm when not attached to the strip.

Security Features

The C-TS locks come with different hook locking arrangements:

  1. Standard Uni-Directional Hook: Throws upwards, regardless of hook position.
  2. Hook and Anti Lift Pin: Offers higher security with additional protection against forced entry, requiring special keeps due to the proximity of the pin and hook bolt.

Maco’s rollers, referred to as i.S. cams, are made from hardened steel to resist attacks. They function similarly to rollers used for compression, pulling the door against the frame to minimize dust and water ingress, while also helping to prevent warping.

Adjustability and Operation

Rollers are typically adjustable by 1mm for optimal weather sealing.

Locking and Unlocking Procedure

  • To lock the door:
    • Lift the handle upwards to engage the locking points.
    • Secure the locking points and main deadbolt (if applicable) by turning the key.
  • To unlock the door:
    • Turn the key to unlock the system.
    • Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.

Endurance Testing

The Maco Protect C-TS locks have been endurance tested to withstand up to 100,000 cycles, ensuring reliability and longevity in everyday use.

Measuring Guidelines

How to Measure the Backset: To measure the backset, take a ruler and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This measurement is crucial for ensuring that the lock fits properly within the door frame.

How to Measure the Centres (PZ): The PZ measurement is taken from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle hole. Use a tape measure to accurately determine this distance, ensuring that both holes are aligned for optimal functionality.

How to Measure the Faceplate: To measure the faceplate, remove the existing lock and measure the width and height of the faceplate. This will help you select the correct faceplate size from the drop-down options available.

What is the Operation: The operation refers to how the lock engages and disengages. This can vary based on the type of lock mechanism used, such as a lift lever or a split spindle. Ensure to select the appropriate operation type from the drop-down menu based on your installation needs.
