Be aware that older Lockmaster versions may have different locking point locations. Adjustments may require enlarging the routing prep on the door by 40-50mm and repositioning the keeps.

Gearbox Specifications

Lockmaster gearboxes come in 35mm or 45mm backsets, featuring either double or single spindle mechanisms. Bifold door versions are available in 25mm and 28mm backsets.

  • Double Spindle Locks:
    • Centres: 62mm and 92mm
    • Unsprung; recommended to use sprung door handles
    • Functions: Lift lever or double spindle nightlatch
  • Single Spindle Locks:
    • Sprung; can only be used as a lift lever function

Gearboxes measure 228mm high plus backset +15mm. The latch and deadbolt both measure 30mm high, with a 65mm gap between them.

Installation Details

Gearboxes are fitted to faceplates with three screw holes:

  • Top to middle screw hole: 109mm
  • Middle to bottom screw hole: 109mm

Earlier versions included a small spindle hole near the latch for holding the latch back.

Lock Features

Lockmaster locks can feature normal hooks or hooks with an anti-lift pin. Hooks throw upwards, with hook cases measuring 136mm high. Deadbolts have a chamfered edge and cases measuring 154mm high.

Rollers assist in compression, pulling the door against the frame to prevent dust and water ingress, while also helping to prevent warping. They are adjustable by 1mm for optimal weather sealing.

  1. Lift the handle upwards to engage the locking points.
  2. Turn the key to lock the locking points and main deadbolt (if present).

To Unlock the Door:

Measuring Guidelines

Backset Measurement: To measure the backset, take a tape measure and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This distance is crucial for ensuring the lock fits properly in the door.

Centres Measurement: To measure the centres (PZ), measure the distance from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle hole. This measurement is essential for aligning the lock correctly with the door handles.

Faceplate Measurement: To measure the faceplate, remove the existing lock and measure the width and height of the faceplate. This ensures that the new lock will fit seamlessly into the existing cutout.

Operation Selection: When selecting the operation from the drop-down, consider how you intend to use the lock. Options may include lift lever, double spindle nightlatch, or other configurations based on your security needs.
