Product Overview: GU Europa Multipoint Door Lock

The GU Europa multipoint door lock is designed for enhanced security and functionality, featuring a robust configuration that includes 2 Rollers, 2 Hooks, 1 Deadbolt, and 1 Latch. This lock is part of the GU range known as "SECURY," with the Europa series specifically offering lever and split spindle operated versions.

Key Features:

  • Versatile Operation: Available in both lift lever and split spindle nightlatch operations, ensuring flexibility for various door types.
  • Identifiable Design: GU locks are easily recognizable by the logo stamped on the faceplate. Be mindful that older doors may have the original style locks, which differ from the current models.
  • Compatibility and Replacement: If you need to replace an old GU lock, the new version can often be installed with minor adjustments to the deadbolt and latch keeps. This ensures a seamless upgrade while maintaining security.
  • Locking Mechanism: The GU Europa locks utilize a combination of hooks, deadbolts, and rollers. The rollers serve to compress the door against the frame, enhancing weather sealing and preventing warping.

Installation Notes:

  • Gearbox Differences: New style GU gearboxes feature a distinct vertical groove at the top, unlike the old style which has a cut-out corner. Ensure compatibility when replacing gearboxes, as they are not interchangeable.
  • Measurement Guidelines: When measuring for backsets, always allow an additional 2mm for accuracy. The GU multipoint lock gearboxes measure 191mm in height and vary in width based on the backset.
  • Adjustable Rollers: Rollers can be adjusted by +/- 1mm to optimize weather sealing, ensuring your door remains secure against the elements.

Operation Instructions:

  • To lock the door:
    • Lift the handle upwards to engage all locking points.
    • Secure the lock by turning the key to engage the main deadbolt.
  • To unlock the door:
    • Turn the key to unlock the system.
    • Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.

Measuring Guidelines

How to Measure the Backset: To measure the backset, take a ruler and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This measurement is crucial for ensuring that the lock fits properly within the door frame.

How to Measure the Centres (PZ): To measure the centres, measure the distance from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle hole. This is typically 92mm for the GU Europa lock, ensuring compatibility with standard door fittings.

How to Measure the Faceplate: To measure the faceplate, measure the width and height of the existing faceplate on your door. This will help you select the correct size from the drop-down options, ensuring a perfect fit for your new lock.

Operation: The operation of the lock can vary based on the specific model. Please refer to the drop-down options to select the appropriate operation type for your installation needs.
