Gearbox Specifications

Ingenious gearboxes feature a unique double spindle arrangement with centers at 62mm and 92mm. Both followers are unsprung, so using sprung door furniture is advisable. The top corner of the gearbox has a distinctive cut-out.

The hook and latch each measure 30mm in height, with a distance of 75mm between them. When measuring the backset, remember to account for an additional 2-3mm for the faceplate; thus, a 35mm backset gearbox will measure 32mm when not fixed to the strip.

Ingenious multipoint door gearboxes include a small plastic snib on the faceplate, allowing you to hold the latch back for convenience and to prevent accidental lockouts.

Hook Locking Arrangements

Ingenious locks come with different hook locking arrangements:

1. Standard Hook: Typically throws upwards, regardless of its position on the door.
2. Duplex Hook: Offers higher security with a pair of cast zinc hooks that throw towards each other, resembling crab claws. The Duplex locks have a larger hook case than standard hooks, so if you're upgrading and the routing on the door is tight, you may need to enlarge the hook box holes.

Operating Instructions

To Lock the Door:

1. Close the door to automatically engage the latch.
2. Lift the handle to engage the locking points.
3. Turn the key to lock the system.

To Unlock the Door:

1. Turn the key to unlock the system.
2. Push the handle down to disengage the locking points.
3. A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.

Measuring Guidelines

Backset Measurement:

1. Measure from the edge of the door to the center of the keyhole.
2. This distance is your backset.

Centres PZ Measurement:

1. Measure the distance between the centers of the keyhole and the handle.
2. This will give you the PZ measurement (92mm/62mm).

Faceplate Measurement:

1. Measure the width and height of the existing faceplate.
2. Ensure to select the correct size from the drop-down options.
