Product Overview: ERA Hookbolt Multipoint Door Lock

The ERA Hookbolt multipoint door lock is engineered for security and durability, featuring a robust design with 2 rollers, 3 hooks, and 1 latch. This lock is a popular choice in the UK, known for its reliability and ease of identification.

Identification Tips

Identifying an ERA multipoint door lock can be straightforward, but be cautious of rebranded versions. Many door and window companies use ERA locks under different names, such as Surelock, Saracen, and others. Look for the ERA logo on the faceplate, but remember that some brands may have altered the logo or color of the holdback snib, which is typically grey for deadbolt and hook bolt locks, and blue for Vectis locks.

Design Features

All ERA hookbolt locks incorporate a split spindle mechanism, simplifying replacements by focusing on a single locking function. The distinctive square design of the gearbox, measuring 221mm in length, ensures easy identification. Available backsets include 30mm, 35mm, and 45mm, with interchangeable gearboxes (excluding the British Standard Fortress lock).

Locking Mechanism

ERA multipoint locks utilize two hook locking arrangements:

  1. Standard Hook: Compact design ideal for tight routing during replacements.
  2. Security Steel Hook: Larger hook case for enhanced security, requiring minor adjustments to the door for installation.

Both hooks operate bi-directionally, with the top hook throwing upwards and the bottom hook downwards, providing superior security.

Roller Functionality

The rollers serve to compress the door against the frame, preventing dust and water ingress while also minimizing warping. They are adjustable by +/- 1mm for optimal weather sealing.

Operation Instructions

To lock the door:

  1. Lift the handle to engage the locking points.
  2. Turn the key to secure the locking points and main deadbolt.

To unlock the door:

  1. Turn the key to unlock.
  2. Push the handle down to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.

Compliance and Testing

The ERA Hookbolt multipoint door lock meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 4 for corrosion resistance (240 hours) and has been endurance tested for 50,000 cycles. It is designed to comply with PAS24:2012 standards, ensuring a high level of security for your door set.
