Product Overview: ERA Multipoint Door Lock Gearboxes
ERA multipoint door lock gearboxes are designed for versatility and security, making them an excellent choice for various door types. These gearboxes can be interchanged with deadbolts, hookbolts, or Vectis gearboxes, and are compatible with brands such as Fab & Fix, Spartan, Westward, Duraflex, Sapa, and Saracen.
Distinctive Design
The ERA gearboxes are easily recognizable due to their unique square design, which lacks corner cut-outs. The overall dimensions include a length of 221mm, with the width determined by the backset plus an additional 18mm.
Backset Options
Available in three backset sizes—30mm, 35mm, and 45mm—all ERA gearboxes maintain consistent dimensions, ensuring compatibility across various installations. They can be equipped with:
-
A classic deadbolt featuring:
- Standard euro cut out
- Invincible cylinder cut out
- Vectis 5 lever mechanism
-
A hook bolt that throws upward for added security.
Special Features
Among the offerings, the British Standard Fortress invincible gearbox stands out with its hardened drill plates, providing enhanced protection against tampering.
Interchangeability
Most ERA gearboxes are interchangeable, allowing for customization based on client needs. If a client requires a hook lock instead of a deadbolt or a Vectis locking mechanism, simply reach out to us, and we will build the lock to order.
Latch and Screw Specifications
The gearboxes feature a 24mm high latch, characterized by two distinctive screws, and a 30mm high deadbolt, with a spacing of 61mm between them. Uniquely, the gearboxes are secured to the faceplate with four screws. The measurements between the screw holes are as follows:
- First to second: 37mm
- Second to third: 85mm
- Third to fourth: 43mm
For reliable security solutions, ERA multipoint door lock gearboxes are a top choice, combining functionality with robust design.
To ensure you have all the necessary details for the ERA multipoint door lock gearboxes, here’s a concise guide on how to measure the backset and centres, along with an explanation of the operation.
Measuring the Backset
The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. To measure it:
- Position the Door: Ensure the door is in a closed position.
- Use a Measuring Tape: Place one end of the tape measure against the edge of the door.
- Measure to the Cylinder Center: Extend the tape to the center of the lock cylinder. This measurement will give you the backset size (30mm, 35mm, or 45mm).
Measuring the Centres (PZ)
The centres, or PZ measurement, is the distance from the center of the cylinder to the center of the handle. To measure it:
- Identify the Cylinder and Handle: Locate the cylinder and the handle on the door.
- Measure from Center to Center: Use a measuring tape to measure from the center of the cylinder to the center of the handle. The standard PZ measurement for ERA gearboxes is 92mm.
Understanding the Operation
The operation of the ERA multipoint door lock gearboxes can be either a lift lever or a split spindle nightlatch:
-
Lift Lever: This operation involves lifting the handle to engage the locking mechanism. It provides a straightforward way to secure the door.
-
Split Spindle Nightlatch: In this operation, the handle and the lock cylinder are independent. Turning the key will lock or unlock the door, while the handle can be used to operate the latch without affecting the lock status.
These features ensure that the ERA gearboxes offer both security and ease of use, making them a reliable choice for various door types.
