Product Information
Lockmaster gearboxes are designed for versatility and reliability, available in both 35mm and 45mm backsets. The double spindle versions require sprung handles and can function as either a lift lever or a double spindle nightlatch.
This Lockmaster gearbox serves as a genuine replacement for the gearboxes found in Lockmaster multipoint locks. Options include both double spindle (92/62PZ) and single spindle (92PZ only) configurations. The gearbox features a latch and deadbolt and is unsprung, with the 45mm versions utilizing a 35mm case complemented by an extended latch and deadbolt, along with a 10mm packer piece.
Replacement gearboxes for Lockmaster locks are manufactured by Lockmaster. Note that double spindle versions are unsprung and should not be paired with unsprung handles.
Lockmaster gearboxes come in 35mm or 45mm backsets, featuring either a double spindle or single spindle mechanism. For bifold doors, versions are available in 25mm and 28mm backsets.
Double spindle locks are designed with 62mm and 92mm centres and are unsprung, making it essential to use sprung door handles. They can operate as a lift lever or double spindle night latch. In contrast, single spindles are sprung and are limited to lift lever functionality.
The dimensions of Lockmaster gearboxes are 228mm high plus the backset measurement, with the latch and deadbolt each measuring 30mm high. There is a 65mm distance between the bottom of the latch and the top of the deadbolt.
Gearboxes are secured to faceplates with three screw holes. The distance from the top to the middle screw hole is 109mm, and the same applies from the middle to the bottom screw hole.
Earlier models of these gearboxes featured a small spindle hole at the top of the case, adjacent to the latch, which was used to hold the latch back.
The 45mm versions of the Lockmaster gearbox mirror the 35mm version but include an extended latch and deadbolt, along with a cover plate to facilitate conversion to a 45mm backset.
We also offer a comprehensive range of associated products for Lockmaster Standard gearboxes, including multipoint door locks, keeps, spindles, handles, and various accessories.
To measure the backset, you need to determine the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the keyhole or handle. Here's how to do it:
-
Position the Measuring Tape: Place one end of the measuring tape against the edge of the door.
-
Find the Center: Measure to the center of the keyhole or handle. This measurement is your backset.
For the centres (PZ measurement), follow these steps:
-
Identify the Keyhole: Locate the keyhole on the door.
-
Measure from the Keyhole to the Handle: Measure the distance from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle. This distance is your PZ measurement.
Regarding the operation, the Lockmaster gearbox can function in two ways:
-
Lift Lever: This allows you to lift the handle to engage the locking mechanism.
-
Double Spindle Nightlatch: This option enables the lock to be operated from both sides, providing added security.
