Lockmaster gearboxes are designed for versatility and reliability, available in both 35mm and 45mm backsets. You can choose between a double spindle or single spindle mechanism, with bifold door versions offered in 25mm and 28mm backsets.

For double spindle locks, you’ll find options with 62mm and 92mm centres. These unsprung locks work best with sprung door handles and can function as either a lift lever or a double spindle night latch. On the other hand, single spindles are sprung and are limited to the lift lever function.

The dimensions of Lockmaster gearboxes are 228mm in height, with an additional 15mm added to the backset. Both the latch and deadbolt measure 30mm in height, with a 65mm gap between the bottom of the latch and the top of the deadbolt.

Installation is straightforward, as gearboxes are fitted to faceplates with three screw holes. The distance from the top to the middle screw hole is 109mm, and the same applies from the middle to the bottom.

It's worth noting that earlier models included a small spindle hole at the top of the case, near the latch, which was used to hold the latch back.

The 45mm versions maintain the same design as the 35mm but come with an extended latch and deadbolt, along with a cover plate to facilitate the conversion to a 45mm backset.

In addition to the gearboxes, we offer a comprehensive range of associated products for Lockmaster Standard gearboxes, including multipoint door locks, keeps, spindles, handles, and various accessories to meet all your locking needs.

To measure the backset, you need to determine the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. Here's how to do it:

  1. Position the Door: Ensure the door is in a closed position.

  2. Use a Measuring Tape: Place one end of the measuring tape at the edge of the door where the lock will be installed.

  3. Measure to the Center: Extend the tape to the center of the lock cylinder hole. This measurement is your backset.

For measuring the centres (PZ), follow these steps:

  1. Identify the Lock Mechanism: Locate the lock mechanism on the door.

  2. Measure from the Cylinder to the Spindle: Use a measuring tape to find the distance from the center of the cylinder hole to the center of the spindle hole. This distance is your PZ measurement.

Regarding the operation of the lift lever, it refers to how the lock is engaged or disengaged. In a lift lever operation, you lift the handle to retract the latch, allowing the door to open. This mechanism is designed for ease of use, providing a smooth action when opening the door.
