Introducing the automatic locking gearbox from the Fuhr range, designed for enhanced security and convenience. Please note that these gearboxes are specifically engineered and cannot be interchanged with regular Fuhr gearboxes.

The Fuhr 833 multipoint gearboxes come in a variety of backsets, including 35mm, 40mm, 45mm, 55mm, and 65mm, with some options available by special order. Each gearbox features a robust deadbolt that extends 20mm for added security. The dimensions of the gearbox are 220mm in height and a width that varies based on the backset, plus an additional 18mm. Both the latch and deadbolt stand at 31mm high, with a distance of 61mm between the bottom of the latch and the top of the deadbolt. Installation is straightforward, as gearboxes are secured to faceplates with three screws.

Fuhr locks are equipped with a ball bearing and spring pre-fitted, enhancing the locking mechanism's reliability. A small notch on the sliding internal strip engages the ball bearing under spring tension, providing a more positive locking feel when the handle is operated. It's important to note that some replacement gearboxes on the market may lack this feature, but all of Duffells' replacement Fuhr gearboxes come with these components pre-fitted for a seamless swap.

Operation Overview

From the outside, the door can be accessed using a cylinder key or an access control system. The door automatically locks upon closing and can be deadlocked with the cylinder key for additional security.

From the inside, unlocking is simple: use the access control (such as an intercom or push button), the lever handle, or the cylinder key. The door locks automatically when closed and can also be deadlocked using the cylinder key.

Locking and Unlocking Process

To lock the door:

1. Close the door, allowing the latch and locking points to engage automatically as the triggers connect with the keeps on the frame.
2. Turn the key to deadlock the mechanism.

To unlock the door:

1. Turn the key to unlock the mechanism.
2. If using a lever, push it down to retract the locking points. Alternatively, a further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch, allowing you to open the door.
