Winkhaus Cobra Multipoint Door Lock

The Winkhaus Cobra multipoint door lock is designed for enhanced security and convenience, featuring a robust configuration of 2 hooks, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch with an innovative Entryguard facility.

Key Features:

  • Multipoint Locking System: The Cobra lock is the original Winkhaus design, incorporating a central latch and deadbolt along with multiple "Cobra" hook locking points. Available options include lift lever operation, split spindle, or key wind mechanisms.
  • Versatile Locking Points: Cobra locks can feature either 2 or 4 hooks, providing flexibility in security options. While a 4 roller lock is available, the combination of hook and roller is exclusive to the Scorpion range.
  • Standardized Locking Distances: The popular locking distance of 1490mm between external hooks has been widely adopted across the market, ensuring compatibility with various door designs.
  • Identification: To easily identify a Winkhaus Cobra lock, check for the Winkhaus logo and the Secured by Design logo on the faceplate. The central deadbolt and non-handed hooks are distinctive features of the Cobra model.

Enhanced Security Features:

  • Entryguard Function: This feature acts like a door chain, providing additional security. It can be released from the outside by the key holder with a simple 45-degree turn of the key.
  • FA Lockout Cylinder: This double function incorporates two locking cylinders, allowing for double deadlocking of the door. This prevents unauthorized exit from the property, enhancing overall security.

Installation and Compatibility:

  • Routing Consistency: All Winkhaus locks share the same routing details, making it easy to change locking operations or upgrade to automatic locking with minimal hassle.
  • Compact Gearbox Design: Winkhaus gearboxes, except for the AV4, measure 185mm high with a backset of +15mm, making them among the smallest on the market. They feature a groove for easy handle fitment.
  • Operation Types: The locks are available in lift lever, split spindle, and key wind operations, easily identifiable by the color-coded stickers on the gearbox.

Durability and Performance:

  • High-Quality Materials: Cobra locks feature 25mm throw solid steel hooks that are nickel plated for durability, ensuring they fully engage with the keep rail to prevent forced entry.
  • Operation Instructions:
    • To Lock: Lift the handle to engage the locking points, then turn the key to secure the deadbolt and locking points.
    • To Unlock: Turn the key to unlock, then push the handle down to disengage the locking points.

Certification: Winkhaus Cobra locks are tested to 100,000 cycles, ensuring reliability and long-lasting performance.

Measuring Guidelines:

To ensure accurate measurements for your Winkhaus Cobra lock, follow these guidelines:

Backset Measurement:
To measure the backset, take a tape measure and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This distance is crucial for ensuring the lock fits properly.

Centres PZ Measurement:
The PZ measurement refers to the distance between the center of the keyhole and the center of the handle. To measure this, place your tape measure at the center of the keyhole and extend it to the center of the handle.

Faceplate Measurement:
To measure the faceplate, remove the existing lock and measure the width and height of the faceplate. This will help you select the correct size from the drop-down options.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your Winkhaus Cobra lock is installed correctly and functions optimally.
