Introducing the original N&S Phlexicare RADAR bathroom mortice lock and handle set, specifically designed for disabled toilet doors. This essential kit includes a latchbolt operated by a unique RADAR key and lever handle, ensuring accessibility and security.

The RADAR key, representing The Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation, is a distinctive blue, red, or silver key that grants access to over 10,000 disabled toilets across the UK. This system, utilized by approximately 400 local authorities, not only facilitates access for disabled individuals but also protects against vandalism and misuse.

Established in 1981, the National Key Scheme (NKS) was created to ensure that accessible toilets remain clean and available for those in need. Prior to the introduction of RADAR locks, many establishments required staff assistance to access these facilities, often leading to inconvenience and delays. The NKS revolutionized this process, allowing disabled individuals to use toilets independently.

This bathroom mortice lock features a sleek silver lock case with unique measurements that distinguish it from standard mortice locks. Available exclusively in a satin chrome finish, it includes a deadlatch with a 14mm throw. For enhanced security or the option to lock the bathroom door from the outside, consider upgrading to a euro case mortice lock with a key and turn euro cylinder.

From the inside, the deadlatch locks automatically upon closing the door and can be easily unlocked with the lever handle. On the outside, access is granted using the RADAR key. The lock comes complete with a matching striking plate and a set of lever handles, making it suitable for most internal wooden doors.

These locks are handed, meaning they cannot be reversed. If you’re facing the door and it hinges on the left, you’ll need a left-hand lock; if it hinges on the right, opt for a right-hand lock. Each lock is supplied with one nickel-plated steel key, with additional keys available upon request.

Please note that these locks are not suitable for fire doors and are available in both left-hand and right-hand variants. To determine the correct handing, refer to the provided handing table.

Mortice lever locks are commonly used in various door types, including wooden, steel, aluminum, and composite doors. They provide robust security, locking from both inside and outside with a key that engages the deadbolt. For external doors, we recommend using a British Standard BS3621 product to meet security requirements.

When replacing an existing mortice lock, be aware that the new lock may differ in size. Adjustments can typically be made with basic tools. For new timber doors, we recommend using Souber’s DBB morticer for efficient installation.

Ensure your door meets the minimum thickness requirement of 44mm as recommended by the Master Locksmith Association. A lever mortice lock secures the door by throwing a bolt into a metal keep or strike, preventing unauthorized access.

At Duffells, we offer a wide selection of mortice locks, all available for quick delivery. Explore our express delivery options and find more details on our delivery info page.
